Yes. I never understood why but I have a horrible time remembering things from day to day. Yet a month or two after something happens It tends to just pop into my mind and I have an "oh crap" moment.

yes, you would have less overall memories i'd think but as long as your long term memory was in good health i'd think the memories you did manage to retain would be more vivid.

think of it kind of like a blind person... they develop the other senses better. i think it works the same for folks with amnesiac qualities, what does get retained, seems to be retained well.

i've had personal experience with braindamaged relatives and can testify to this. also i've used amnesic drugs (benzos) in high doses for weeks at a time before and can say that although i barely remember anything, what i do remember from that period I can remember well.
