I suspect your expectations are unreasonable, regardless of gender - if you think someone is going to pay perfect attention to you, you better start building a robot because there's not a human on the planet I've met that can drop everything at the drop of a hat and listen perfectly in every circumstance.
This said, I listen to those I care about all the time. I'm also very picky.
