I telephoned the credit card company to inquire about some strange charges on my bill.

The bill was over 40,000$, but there was less then 1000 in charges that I made...

The people at the company said they would definitely be looking into this. In the meantime, my account has been totally locked down so this person can't make any more purchases in my name.

I really hope they figure out who is doing this, I really can't afford to pay that much money. That's even more money than I've ever made in my entire life...

That sucks.  It's a good thing you noticed at least.  Hopefully, it should be clear that it wasn't you (based on where the charges were coming from, what they were, etc).

Hopefully it'll be sorted out soon, and it doesn't happen again.

It is not necessarily identity theft, yo... Are you sure you're old enough to even have a credit card? LOL... Perhaps you should have been more careful with the usage of your card and its numbers. Good luck with the payments--somebody I know had a $20k debt and had $450 monthly payments. When he got help with it, we found out by the time he would pay that off he would be 25 years older and would have paid off 74k with interest and all.
