Heh, reminds me of an argument I had with someone once - he thought casual sex paradigms were superior to polyamory because emotional connections resulted in a fetishization of the other person. He had some good points, but ultimately the reality is most of us need that emotional bond to fully enjoy sex.

Anyways, back on topic: My advice is to spend time apart for awhile. Don't need to necessarily break up, just give each other some space. You're obsessing too much over the relationship itself - you've already noticed this much I think, right?
If that makes it worse, you may want to seek counseling.
