This kind of relates to this topic, but I think it deserves to be its own thread. Something that I have noticed, especially with the recent Fort Hood shooting, is that Muslims seem to have the only extremist group that kills in the name of their god. While I realize this statement may not be an absolute fact, it seems, for the most part, to be true.

For example, a Christian extremist may say that everything you do is a sin, and you are going to be sent to hell for masturbating, but they don't kill in the name of their god.

Mormon extremists may have 6 wives and live on compounds, but they too do not kill in the name of their god.

This list could go on and on and cover the rest of the major world religions and I think you'd find the same thing - that no other religious groups kills so frequently in the name of their god as the muslims do.

Why is this? Where do these Muslim extremists get the idea that killing in the name of their god is a good and moral value?

*disclaimer: I realize these are generalizations, nor am I knowledgeable about various world religions.*

Wow...Ive actually never thought about this.  But it is a good point.  But if you do look at it this way, why does anyone do what they do.  Religion is all about what your told from the get go.  You grow up learning these things and they automatically think that its the right thing to do.

this is because their religious writings condone such actions. muslims were originally prosecuted and mohammed was peaceful and all for a while, then his chick khadija died and he went haywire and declared war on those prosecuting his followers, and wrote in the holy papers about doing such.

it is their religion.

That's only the modern one, and it has a lot to do with politics and the lack of separation from of church & state in primarily muslim countries. It's not really anything to do with Islam, but the correlation is present due to the political atmosphere.

I mean, look at the crusades. that was the same situation in a different time. The church was the state and vice versa, and it led to things liek the spanish inquisition.

It's no longer the norm though - I could care less about the history right now. And like I said, they are mostly generalizations; there are exceptions to everything.

Where do the Christians that kill medical personnel involved with abortion get the idea that killing in the name of their god is a good and moral value? By the way, you do realize (of course you don't) that the three main monotheistic religions, being Christianity Judaism and Islam, all worship the same god?

What about the KKK?

I think we mostly hear about other religious extremists because a large chunk of Western society is Christian. It's somewhat of a fad, if you will, to focus in on them, but there have always been extremists in religion, especially with Christianity.

It's the same as killing for your country. It's illegal to kill, but the government gets away with it all the time.

Those are pretty gigantic exceptions.
It's not the norm in Islam.
Do you have any idea how small the percentage of muslim racialists compared to the rest of the world's muslim population is?
