That's interesting.  I personally would not choose to homeschool my own children, but I can understand why some parents opt to care for their children's education themselves.  So, I'm rather confounded as to why this law--implemented by Hitler in 1938--is still present in the current German law considering how far in civil rights European nations have supposedly advanced.

Not only are the parents being forced to re-enroll their children in the school system, but it even went as far as to arrest some of the families in question.  One family was noted as running to Austria to preserve their rights as parents to teach their children.

Granted, I don't know how different German citizen rights are compared to the US, but I had always had the impression that they exert as much personal rights as we in the US do.

I imagine they have it the same reason Hitler had it.

Oh they "teach godless values".
DUH! RELIGION IS AGAINST THE LAW TO TEACH IN SCHOOL! I mean fuck, what if they were preaching Protestantism with Catholics, Jews, and Muslims in the school? Is that not against the German Constitution?
