I've been smoking for a couple of years now (pot), but only in the past year after going into college have I gotten a different perspective of the pot culture. I still have a ton of friends who smoke pot. I actually left highschool early so most of them are seniors right now about to graduate.

I've started noticing that they have almost an obsession over pot, and the general group of people you run into who smoke pot seem to make it a big focus. Like I remember hanging out with one of my few friends who I can actually hang out with for a whole day and not even talk about pot (she smokes too though) and another group of kids came over to her apartment with her sister. The first thing they were talking about was pot right through the door, and thinking about it thats what they are always talking about.

Thinking about my two best-friends who I've hung out with nearly every day for the past couple of years they are almost always centered around pot. Thinking about the majority of recreational pot smokers I know they spend alot of their time hunting down pot and smoking pot with people. They aren't talking about it when they are smoking, but at the most 2 hours after smoking they are talking about smoking again if they are all still hanging out together. If they don't have any they'll go find some. Like it just seems like the central activity, like thats what they do. They smoke pot and then play video games or just chill.

I dunno if thats just a high school thing or something, but I feel like I'm noticing it more and getting bored with it. Like I already didn't really like the idea of just coasting through high school and college and then getting a job and a house. It seems boring. I've started busying myself with all this shit like playing music and going to auditions for acting and writing. It's just like shit to DO that I really enjoy doing because I feel applied in a way I enjoy, and I spend a huge portion of my days now just sitting around for hours and hours playing with a guitar and a synthesizer.

It's made all that other shit more apparent though because I get called alot by people and they're like "hey you wann come chill?" and I'd go over and we'd just sit and smoke pot and play video games for hours. That shit has started driving me fucking CRAZY, I'd rather smoke pot and do something interesting. Like pot being a different state of mind to approach an actual activity in.

I've started not really even spending that much time hanging out with people because all the people I know are in this typical pot sub-culture. I only do sparingly when I am just feeling like I haven't seen anyone in a while so I have an itch to go see someone, but even then after 3 hours I'm itching to get away again because I get tired of just hanging out. My "best-friends" think I'm avoiding them, but I'm just busy, which is funny because they literally seem almost incapable of getting that I REALLY enjoy doing this stuff even if I end up spending all day at my house. I mean I've told them, but they still react the same. "What!? You don't want to smoke a 'rillo and play Def Jam?" "What!? You don't want to go get a dimebag and chill at *so and sos* house?" I'm not even sure if I dig them as much as I used to because one is completely egocentric and the other one is REALLY immature.

I've got some friends I do enjoy though. I know some working actors who I usually see during the week and I know a couple of kids in bands who I can jam with. Those are really the best times I have seeing people, when I jam with someone I feel like I get really into it because people have their own styles and ideas and its really interesting to clash personalities together to create something artistic. You get different experiences from different people, and you always draw something from what you hear them do and what happens.
