you should be careful, if you have never met him before.
first date can be a little awkward, especially if you don't know each other or haven't hung out prior to the date. i never dated someone i haven't known a bit. safe best it to go somewhere very public where there's lots of people around, like a resturaunt, coffee shop, or something and get to know him.
ps. (bring pepper spray just in case.)
