well to start off, panic attacks are prevalent in my family, my  mom especially. i have had panic attacks before but it's been at least a year since i had a panic attack, but i have still been having severe generalized (i guess?) anxiety

for example... lets say i have to catch a bus to go somewhere, i will be anxious about missing the bus, i will feel in the pit of my stomach that something IS going to go terribly wrong, it's a feeling that is hard to shake, and it's really stressful. it happens a lot ... when i go to meet new people, when i go out for anything, when i wake up and don't know what i am going to do that day
it's crippling. it does stop me from doing things sometimes.

i recently quit my job and now i am looking for a new one
which adds to stress, obviously, i know that looking for a job and worrying about money is a stressful thing so i dont' think that's abnormal but i feel as if the level of anxiety and stress i have is above average

am i overreacting? should i just go to my doctor and ask about this?

when i had panic attacks i did mention that to my doctor but was never treated. have any of you been on anti anxiety medications, what are they like, would you recommend them?

You may want to talk to a doctor... what harm could it do?  If anxiety is in your family, then there's even more reason to be concerned.

I haven't been on any anxiety medication personally to let you know what I think about it :(.

have you been on medication for anxiety then? honestly, over the years, i have resisted medication but i feel like now it is my last ditch resort, and it wouldn't hurt to give it a try just to see how it affects my life.
in the past i did meditation and breathing exercises to cope with the anxiety and it did lessen it but obviously the anxiety still persists now.

You can always try the medication, i took it for a few days and hated it, but then i have problems with modd swings and all that so its diff meds, but you can try it, and if your not happy with it, try something different.... definately talk to your doctor though, thats the first step, and if the doctor just blows it off just make sure yu tell them its a serious problem cause my regular doctor didnt listen to me, thats why i went to my gyno

i am reading about generalized anxiety disorder on wikipedia and i experience a couple of the symptoms for this, like feeling on edge, being easily fatigued, and my mind goes blank a lot when i am feeling a lot of anxiety

it is hard to explain to people when i am having anxiety, because it isn't about any one specific thing, it's just a feeling that i get, and then it overwhelms me and i find it harder to concentrate

i will make an appointment with my doctor to talk about this, but i was more wondering to people who have had anxiety and been prescribed medication and whether or not it helped them
