i hate the taste of alcohol so i mix it with water to lighten it up.

now does this make the alcohol less as stronger? or does it not matter?

lets say I have 1 glass of striahgt up rum. Is it the same thing as drinking 2 half glasses mixed with rum and water.

wow, do the math. if you mix it with water, it doesn't take any of the rum away, it just reduces how strong it is on your pallet. and WHY are you mixing it with water?

"Less as strong" or "weaker" would have sufficed. Redundancy ftw. Diluting the alchol decreases its' potency.. making it weaker.

1 cup of rum is the same as
2 half cups of rum filled with water

right?

and do the water make the alcohol effects longer?

A shot of straight up liquor contains the same amout of alcohol as two half shots mixed with water, however...
in the later case you won't get drunk as fast since the alcohol will enter the blood stream slower due to more stuff in your stomach.  It would be the same effect as eating before drinking alcohol.

Just mix the rum with coke.  It'll taste a lot better than mixing it with water.

i would put ice on the glass, makes it softer without actually adding water to it, pretty much the same though

I would rather just drink it straight up to get it over with. Diluting alcohol tastes absolutely horrible to me.
