I know most religions condemn all forms of birth control (except for abstinence, of course), but what if there is a justified reason for it? What if one partner is a carrier for a devastating genetic disease that is very likely to be passed on to any children they have, or what if the woman is undergoing some medical treatment (like chemotherapy) that will very likely end up killing the child in the womb if she does get pregnant?

Try to rationally argue against a religion-based point-of-view is a very slippery slope.  Things will start to unravel very quickly.

My old religion teacher used to say that if you did have any sort of genetic disease then you would be destined to lead a single life. If you're not able to have children, or you don't want to because of certain complications then you just remain abstinent.

It's not the views of myself personally, as I am on birth control.

I beg to differ.

It's perfectly acceptable. If you ask me, it's the RESPONSIBLE thing to do.

Kids will be kids, kids will have sex. It's nothing new, and it's not going to change, regardless of what people say.

If they want to do it bad enough, they will. Why shouldn't they at least be responsible about it and use proper protection?

The US has funded abstinence-only sex ed for several years now.

The average amount of teen pregnancy keeps going up.

CLEARLY, insisting on abstinence is not going to do crap. Let's be real, aside from if you have very strong religious/moral beliefs that you WILL NOT have sex before marriage, most teens and even adults at times are not exactly what you'd call opposed to it. And even if someone DOES have religious beliefs, that doesn't mean things will go as planned.

Just saying... my point was,  I disagree with your statement. They're not condemning birth control, they're condemning sex in the first place.

This isn't accurate.
Very few religions (judeo-christian anyways) condemn birth control, and of the few that do (Catholicism comes to mind) most of the individual members that I've met don't take that official doctrine seriously (in the US at least).

Please note that birth control =/= abortion. I support both, but most religions make a very clear difference between the two, including the ones that also condemn birth control as well as abortion.
