Like I want to graduate from high school and then go to med school. I want to major in psychology or psychiatry, I haven't really made up my mind yet.

Psychiatry would mean like I would be a psychiatrist, right?

And then psychology would mean I would just like be a therapist or something?

I want to mainly help people who are battling an eating disorder.

psychology.

the difference between a psychiatrist and psychologist is that the psychiatrist can prescribe medication like a doctor would.

You don't go to medical school immediately after graduating from high school (at very least it's virtually impossible).  You'll be better able to plan this sort of thing by talking to a guidance counselor, or even people at colleges you're considering applying to.

That would make you a Behavior Therapist.....I looked into psychiatry.....I still haven't made up my mind either...

Psychiatry isn't a major. To become a psychiatrist, you go to college (major in whatever you want) go to medical school and then do a residency (after 4 years of med school) in Psychiatry.

It doesn't matter where you go to college in medical school admissions. Average GPA for MD only schools is 3.7/4.0.

Psychology is a great major. If you end up not getting accepted to medical school or decide you don't want to go, you can always just go to graduate school, get a masters, and become a therapist.

A psychiatrist is someone who prescribes medication. A psychologist is a doctor who can diagnose mental illnesses. A therapist is just someone to talk to, basically.

If you want to help people with eating disorders, studying to become a psychologist seems like the best fit.

A psychiatrist is able to prescribe medication. A psychologist seems like the best route for you if you want to help someone with an eating disorder.

y don't u become a dietician then that's gonna straight away deal with it..... with psychology u can do that as well except for giving prescriptions for medicine which u can do as a psychiatrist....
