thanks. the thing that has got me pissed right now though, is there is this girl, and she is my friend, and i used to have a crush on her, but she had a boyfriend and obviously wanted nothing to do with me. anyway I've gotten over her recently, and while i don't have feelings for her like that anymore, her boyfriend recently cheated on her, and she is terribly upset, and to be honest I'm really quite pissed, both because she is so heartbroken, and because she ended up with that asshole instead of me. anyway, im just venting, thanks for the support. ill cool down here after a bit.

I hate people who cheat, they piss me off, because while some of us can't even GET a girl, there are people like this one other guy that i know, that apparently can't settle for just one, and had to go cheat on his girl, and break her hear. why couldn't he just be content to be with just her, or at least break things off if things where not going so well. i hate and envy people like him. >< anyway to all you cheaters out there, fuck you for being backstabbing whores, and assholes.

Obviously cheating is unethical, but your reasoning is disturbing to be honest.
"Can't settle for just one" - what the fuck does this have to do with anything? Cheating is a betrayal of trust, not monogamy.

But yeah, the point is that cheating is still very much possible with polyamory. In some ways it's harder to do, but all the more awful if you do because of that.
As for understanding it... well, it may not be for you, but it boils down to one simple truth, at least for us: We are entirely capable of loving more than one other human being. Polyamory is the natural extension of that.

Now, not everyone's comfortable with it. Some people honestly end up only attracted to one other person (a friend of mine and her fiance are like that). Etc.

The male ego is a very fragile thing. It constantly needs reinforcing and most guys don't have the brain power or the desire to turn down something that will inflate their self esteem. Little do they know or care that cheating is a bad reflection on their character.

This is why both gender roles digust me. Surface-level aspects of gender roles don't really bother me, and obviously at some point you need to distinguish between the schema and individual character traits, but the deeper-level psyche aspects of gender roles need to go.

Perfect example of this:
I had a discussion the other day with an MtF girl. When she transitioned, it was astonishing and heartbreaking just how fragile it turned out some of her male friends' egos actually were. Hell, a few of them actually thought they were somehow gay just because they felt physical attraction afterwards. And this isn't an uncommon phenomenon.
