How does it prevent plagiarism? Does it just make sure you aren't turning in a paper that someone else has already wrote? I'm just worried that somehow I'm not gonna cite something right and they will think I plagiarized or something. lol

If you properly cite something, it's not plagiarism because you aren't passing the words off as your own. When you don't have a works cited, that's when you get into deep, warm, murky shit.

It compares you paper against all of the others in the data bank and comes up with a percentage of similarity. All published sources are in it, too, so yes you will be cited for plagiarism if you don't cite your sources correctly.

it doesn't prevent plagiarism; it tells your teacher how likely it is that you did plagiarize.

when i used it, it gave a percent plagiarized and if it's under 10% or something, you were fine.

it depends how clearly u expressed ur thoughts in ur paper and how much u r able to explain.... people can differentiate between the two things original and copied by reading the whole thing....
if ur idea coincides with someone else without copying even it will have distinguishing points and ur clarity with the idea.....
