Boy Scouts is a religious association. Of course they would not allow those who believe otherwise.

The will not let openly homosexual men lead because it is BOY SCOUTS. for one, most boys would simply laugh at a homosexual leader. for two, especially for peer leaders, most boys would feel uncomfortable with it. the program is about the youth, not about making sure homosexuals don't get their feelings hurt.

I always loved the boy scouts. Gays and blacks and atheists suck.

and if they said that midgets or asains or blacks couldn't be peer leaders because the kids might laugh at them, that's ok too?
that's only half of my reasoning. if the only reason was that boys would laugh at them, they generally wouldn't even WANT to be a leader. don't just assume everyone who disagrees with you is a prejudiced ass, because I am not. I don't hold anything against homosexuals, but I am not too biased to understand the BSA policy.

For the record, this is explicitly contrary to what the BSA teaches. Grab a Boy Scout Handbook (mine's back in my hometown or I'd quote it myself); the ban has nothing to do with protecting the youth or the preposterous assumption that boys wouldn't respect a gay adult leader. Rather, it is based purely in moral arguments--the BSA claims to be accepting of all religions, and even goes so far as to offer awards that Buddhist and Unitarian Universalist members can achieve, but this is ultimately only because Council doesn't realize that not all religions believe in God and reject buttsex. Unlike the rest of scouting across the world, which has long since moved past such backwards attitudes, the BSA still clings onto Abrahamic ethnocentrism (interestingly enough, this is largely due to the power that the Mormon lobby has within the BSA--from talking with members of the BSA involved in the court case about barring homosexual scouts, they admitted that originally the goal had merely been to establish their right but then to subsequently admit gay scouts; it was clashes with Mormon groups in the BSA that were primarily responsible for them sticking the course of barring openly homosexual scouts/ homosexual adult leaders). Though I find its attitudes unfortunate, I don't really oppose the BSA as a whole for them (I'm an Eagle Scout), though I do think that it's rather disgraceful that legislation was pushed through to ensure that a discriminatory religious organization could receive and benefit from public funds. They are CHRISTIANS. They want people with CHRISTIAN values to be in the Boy scouts. If you do not have CHRISTIAN values, you shouldnt be in the boy scouts. Its not that hard people
