I'm black and into the punk scene because of the music, passion, opinionated nature, and indiscrimination. Not one of those anarchic punk kids more on the unity side. I think a lot of blacks don't get involved with those groups because it isn't socially acceptable. A lot of people in those "scenes" can be very elitist and a black guy dressing a certain way, talking a certain way, or acting a certain way that isn't perceived as "normal" for a black guy to act is liable to be laughed at by his black peers. I would know. There's this false reality created in a lot of people's minds that if you're into such things you're a traitor to your race, ethnically challenged, and basically go by the belief of "white is right". It's not the case at all. I've got a lot of respect for anyone that takes a dive outside of their stereotypical fields. Black, white, asian, whatever...if you don't let your parents or peers stop you from doing what you want or becoming what you want more power to you.
