I have a little tub on my belly that I'm really not a fan of, and I would like to get rid of it. How can I do this? I go to the gym a couple times a week, dance once a week, and try to eat fairly healthy. It's still gotten bigger though since I went off to college. Help! Thanks!

You need to do all of that over again but do it right this time.

best thing for belly fat are excercises like crunches, crossover crunches, things in that general area of excercise, also do a good amount of cardio

When I'm at the gym, my main thing is the elliptical. I enjoy that for cardio because I can't run for long enough due to a bad ankle and knee. I'll use the weight machines as well, but only if I have the time.

Running, even at a light jog pace, is better than the elliptical. I used to have horrendous knees but eventually I overcame it. Start slow and build up. None of these people know anything about exercise. Sit ups will NOT burn belly fat. They may create muscle, which ultimately burns more calories, but doing sit ups and doing push ups would have the same effect on your stomach (except sit ups would create muscle on the stomach, but this is useless until you burn body fat in that area). You cannot target body fat. You have to exercise and burn all body fat to reduce your percentage body fat overall. I would know, I used to be fat, and my fat compiled on my hips, stomach, and pecs, so I was a mess. But I started running for an hour every day and I saw some noticeable improvement in about 3 weeks. It takes time, but you must keep in mind that it is a lifestyle change.

I really can't run. My ankle is horrendous. I completely tore the 3 main ligaments and had surgery to fix it. I can do almost everything, but running for an extended period of time is one thing that I absolutely cannot do.

PrideAndJoy hit it right on, you can't reduce fat in just one spot of your body. By running and doing cardiovascular exercises you will reduce your total fat percentage, and by working out lifting weights and doing crunches and such, you will build muscle in those areas. Building muscle can give the appearance of a lower body fat also.

If you have bad ankles, swimming would be an excellent alternative to running it's a great cardio and wouldn't put the same strain on your joints.
