Im pretty good with computers but i really know nothing about macs and a buddy wants me to clean his up because it running like shit.

So what can i do to clean it up. Like how to I get to the maintence utilitys? And do they come with restore disks or harddrives to make formatting nice?

Any good info you guys can give would be great

its called disk utility .... it should come with the OSX CD to do a clean format

Yeah you can most comps come with a restore HD and it basically formats the comp and reisnstalls the os/driver's with one click. Takes from the pain in the ass from needin all the disks.

But ne ways. cool ill check out onyx for sure

Yeah, just have him go thru all the files that he wants to save and burn them to a dvd or cdrs.  Then you'll have to get the OS X install disc and hold down C while booting.  Choose the DVD to boot from.  Then go into disk utility and format the drive.  Then you can reinstall OS X and it will run like new.
