Straight after highschool i went into College. I did 2 years doing IT and finished it this year getting a BTEC National Certificate.

I then went back and i've started doing a similar course. PC Maintenance. Which i do a lot of networking, building, installing and fixing computers. Next year if i finish i will leave with a BTEC National Diploma.

Sounds good right? Well, it would be but the reason why i started doing IT is because i honestly didn't know what i wanted to do in the future. Although i've allways been very good with computers and enjoyed them which is why i studied what i did. However now i'm bored of it. Especially tihs course. I know how to build a computer and how a network runs, i've got skills there i can use but i don't want to go doing stuff like that for a living. To put it simply. I find it boring.

So... I think it would be best for me to leave this course. I don't want to do that for a living so the qualification isn't really that important. Its like having a qualification in painting and decorating when applying for a job in web design.

What i mean is the qualification i would loose by leaving, i don't really need unless i go do similar things for a living.

My problem is there is a girl that was in my last course. Good friends. Shes signed up for the same course as i've done. Problem is i got my course paid by the goverment, she howver had to pay. She only wanted to do the course because i was doing it. Yes, Seriously.

Now i have a problem, i can leave and find a full time job, earn money, and do stuff i want to which i can't do now because i'm a student with no money. Stff such as learning to drive, buying an apartment and a car as well going on holidays etc.

But then where does that leave my friend?

Now i'm NOT going out with her, just isn't my type but still. I've been told not to let her hold you back but i think it's a bit of a dick-is thing to do to just quit now... after shes paid for it.

I don't know what to do, any ideas?

I'm going to speak to her later on, give her a ring, not sure what to say though.

Yeah you should definitely give her a call and let her know what on your mind.

Ive been through the same problem about being on a course i didn't want to really do.
I started a fresh this year, starting college all over again at 21 was kinda weird, but I'm glad i didn't it. Now I'm in a course that i love and hope to get somewhere with it.
Like someone told you, you can let things hold you back from doing whats best for you.
You can always get a part time job while studying another course next year

if you did well in your BTEC, they will let you in. (my brother did (link01))

But if you want to leave, you should. if you don't like it, it is a mistake to be there.

May I ask what you're giving her a ring for, if you're not dating?

Oh! I thought he meant an actual ring. Why didn't he just say I'll call her later?

because giving a ring is a term for giving them a call. More of a British thing

I thought about going to uni, and this course would definatly be worth while then, as you're right. I can go to uni after getting my BTEC Diploma. but then i'd be in education for at least 3 years providing i did uni full time, and i want to get out of education and start a carear.

i want full time work, or perhaps get an apprentiship and go on from there, then i'd still be earning real money and advancing my carear.

Yep, my mate did an apprentiship straight after finishing school and he's never looked back. I'm going to see what's currently avaliable for me at the moment.

Thanks.
