Can you believe that Meyer is only going to suspend this guy for one half? And if the running back had been blinded? Would that have warranted a whole game? This is outrageous to me.

Wow, you're fucking me- right?
Spikes is the best LB on the Gators. The Dawgs were shredding our players to pieces the entire game, and the refs happened to call one or two against them. There was some extremely obvious bias during the entire game. Urban Meyer is a coach, he isn't the guy's father. It's the refs jobs to give player's penalties- Brandon Spikes has very few. He's a clean player, he didn't intentionally try to gouge out that guy's eyes. You get into serious punishments when the player has multiple obviously intentional fouls.

...he didn't intentionally try to gouge out that guy's eyes.
...that's odd since he apologized for getting caught up in the emotion of it and admited to Urban Meyer that he was trying to get Ealy back for the previous play.

Players are going to apologize after penalizing someone, it looks terrible for the media if they don't.
Brandon Spikes is a senior at UF, one of the best linebackers in the country at the moment. He knows football.
He isn't going to let a petty rivalry turn "I'm gonna gouge this fuckers eyes out!" during one of the biggest and most televised football games of the college season. He doesn't deserve any more than any other player would get after having such a penalty called against them. He got the penalty on his record, and he's being benched for half of a game. What do you want to see happen to him? Fucking thrown in jail? Benched for the rest of his final season in college football? That article is soo extremely biased it's ridiculous.

He admitted to doing it intentionally and that penalty does not fit his crime.
Thats ludicrous.

Seeing those two comments in the same post was amusing. His being a senior or his talent has nothing to do with anything. When Blount sucker punched that guy, he got an appropriate suspension. For something which could have caused infinitely more damage and had equal intentionality, Spikes gets a slap on the wrist. It's unbelievable.

Dirty play like that is becoming commonplace, it's pathetic. I'm a huge gator fan and no matter how hard I try I cannot defend Brandon for this, he's a very passionate player but this is way too far. I put the blame on the refs and the SEC before I'd put it on Urban.

everyone who covers sports and knows sports is agreeing that the punishment was way too lenient. what he did was disgusting and he should be held accountable for what he did. suspending him half a game? really?.
you can't say it wasn't "intentional". you clearly see his hand going into the players face-mask with the sole purpose of poking his eyes.
