I've never given any of my coworkers any problems, and they've never given me any trouble either. But I know that they do plenty of sniping among each other, and I know that they talk about each other plenty behind each others backs, when they're not there, and I can only imagine that I am included in that as well.

I honestly hate hearing it, its unprofessional and it only makes you imagine the kinds of things that they're saying about you when you can't defend yourself. I've gotten to a point where I'm ready to say to them, just don't talk to me about this, whenever they bring someone else up who isn't there to defend themselves, and don't get me involved. Like I say, to my face, they're fine, praising my work, telling me I can trust them, but I can't shake the feeling that they're trying to soften me up and wait for me to trip up.

that sounds like a normal level of bitching. you shouldn't trust them with anything private but there's no point in keeping your guard up all the time either, everyone gets a bit of bitching so it's all good
