I've been wanting to get some Adderall.

I'm sort of afraid to ask my psychiatrist. I've told her I'm having trouble concentrating. (It isn't true. I just need an upper to help with studies. I used to do a bunch of cocaine before for this exact same purpose).

She said STRATTERA could work.

Anybody ever had that before?

Classified as a norepinephrine (noradrenaline) reuptake inhibitor, atomoxetine is approved for use in children, adolescents, and adults. However, its efficacy has not been studied in children under six years old. Its advantage over stimulants for the treatment of ADHD is that it has less abuse potential than stimulants,[2][3] is not scheduled as a controlled substance and has proven in clinical trials to offer 24 hour coverage of symptoms associated with ADHD in adults and children.[4]

Whereas adderall is an amphetamine salt. Try what she suggests first off, see if it works.

I hope it works. I have such a high tolerance for any kind of drug, that I sort of think it won't really do anything.

I recently went into the doctors to get a prescription for adderall, so far the lady has recommended me Ridalin. From here it will probably just take me about two more weeks to convince her that the medicine she is giving me is not potent enough for my insane symptoms with concentration and focus.

I read the American Mathematical Monthly on Ritalin. I feel like I am sucked into the complex world of the mathematics. It is hard to describe, but it feels amazing-- like I am part of an elite group of people discovering the secrets of the structure of the universe. Sounds cheesy, I know, but advanced mathematics is like that. Yes, I have a degree in math, so I am not just a pseudo-scientist.

I know I'll probably catch hell for this, but I honestly don't think people who don't need adderall should be taking it to aid in studying. If you can't make the grades without adderall, what's going to happen when you graduate, and you're actually in your field of work/research? If you use adderall as a crutch, you won't be sharpening your ACTUAL mental skills as well as if you had just learned the material in your natural state of mind. I've taken adderall once, and it was no better for studying, to me, than a cup of coffee.

It does help when you have 4 hours to sleep at night and tons of stuff to do that require you to have high energy.

Coffee barely does anything to me. I can drink a cup and go to sleep just fine. I's be using it as a substitute for something illegal (coke). So, yeah, adderall seems like a better idea.

She'll probably put you on that to see how it works, but since you have such a high tolerance, as you say, they'll probably end up switching you.

Yes. I was recently on Strattera for my attention deficit disorder. It is not a stimulant drug. It is not a sedative either, it is fairly neutral in terms of CNS stimulation/depression in the same way that antidepressants like Prozac and Zoloft are.

It has no abuse potential. If you take it incorrectly you will just make yourself sick. It will not get you high.

As it is not a stimulant it won't keep you awake when you would otherwise be tired and it will not substitute sleep.

If you do have a case of ADHD, it may help you concentrate, but it's a lot more subtle than stimulant drugs and the therepeutic effect doesn't kick in for like a month after you start taking it. Oh and when you first start taking it or when the dose is increased you feel like ABSOLUTE SHIT! Awful side-effects before you're used to it.
