Graduated in May w/a BS in architecture and a 3.6gpa and still no job   . I'm becomming so depressed. I have no health insurance and student loans are like knocking on my door. Life sucks!!!

I been looking for work since January and no bites. It makes no sense. I live in the DC metro area, which is usally a stable job market b/c all the government but still I havnt had any luck.

I'm waiting on a call back from Borders (the book store) to come any day. They said I have the job as soon as my refrences check out. But the job sucks and I would be making the same amount of money I made like 3 years ago.

Sigh...so life sucks...anyone else in my shoes?

Yeah my friends graduated this year and are more or less in the same position. Try dice.com, hotjobs, or monster. Just keep applying, no matter what.

I'm sorry though but hey, on the upside, you have livewire, right?

Also try applying for grad school. You have great grades. This is the best time to pursue a higher education.

I've heard a lot about people with college degrees having a hard time landing a job, or they're landing a "low level" job that anyone can get.

That's another reason why I decided to join the military right out of high school rather than go to college and go into debt.

Someone who is always hiring: the military.

You can do four things once you graduate high school.
Go to college, get a job, join the military, or be a menace to society.
The Marines will let you do all four.

I knew the economy would temporarily decline so i left college and decided not to go back until 2013.
My friends said my actions were dumb.
But look at them. They are deep in debt and they are leeeeeeching from the government LIKE CRAZY  for grants and scholarships.
They have no idea what is going to happen after they graduate.

They will go back home to mommy and daddy and be in debt for many years.
While i study at home and enjoy all this "free time" (as they call it) until things go back to "normal" with the economy in a few years.

I also told them about a possible pandemic months before the swine flu appeared ....and they said my  plans to prepare for a pandemic were dumb as well. Sure, the swine flu might not be so cruel right now, but it has the possibility. Thanks to the Government...they managed to halt it.
Even then....it might mutate during the winter months and come back stronger and deadlier 2010. Who knows.
All i know is that i have someone tell me things before they happen and i have decided to keep my mouth shout as i see that people do not deserve warnings. Ignorance, for them, is bliss.

Yeah, that sucks to not have a job. I'm sorry.

Also, another good job search site is called Indeed.

indeed.com

On there it will search all of the major job websites in one place making yous spend less time (hopefully) trying to find a job. :)

Good luck!

They have no idea what is going to happen after they graduate.
So your logic is, instead of pursuing a higher degree and possibly grad school, you're going to remain idle until the "economy gets better"? This is a poor decision on your part, but it's your life.

I have a BA and I have a job.

Granted, its working as an administrative assistant at my alma mater, but its a job.

I make 9.30 an hour, which around here is pretty darn good.
