I've been pretty persistent. I've sent my resume or applied to 150 jobs. I use craigslist.org, indeed, and most of the other major ones. I had an internship last summer making $15/hr and would go back there in a heartbeat but they laid off over half the office...

It just sucks b/c everyone tells you to do good in HS, so you can do good in college, so you can get a good job......so much for that....

I've heard a lot about people with college degrees having a hard time landing a job, or they're landing a "low level" job that anyone can get.

That's another reason why I decided to join the military right out of high school rather than go to college and go into debt.

Someone who is always hiring: the military.

Isnt there a 6month waiting list with the navy and airforce? My cousin is on hold to get into the navy...

I'm not sure, but that is very believable. I enlisted in the Marines half way through my senior year in high school. The recruiting office I go to has met their recruitment quota by 210% last I was told. They were actually told they can just stop recruiting for 2-3 months.

The recruiters there also said that they've been getting a lot of visits lately because school recently ended. Now there are high school graduates with no other choice but to either sit at home and do nothing, get a job (which is becoming increasingly harder), or join the military.

-------
You can do four things once you graduate high school.
Go to college, get a job, join the military, or be a menace to society.
The Marines will let you do all four.

I recently found out that the guy that I'm dating has his Master's degree in International Business Relations.

He's working a $10/hour job. :/

Perhaps that is all he could get/find. Just b/c you have a degree in something does not mean you're guaranteed a job in said field. It's all about what fields are hiring. The science fields, education fields, and healthcare fields are hiring. Business relations/macro-micro economics/computer literacy...those are the fields that are not.

Gee, really? My Goddess, child, must you always talk down upon people?

Just because you have a degree in a certain field does not gaurantee job placement. Sorry, but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

All I can say is, don't give up. And an architecture job seems pretty fancy, have you considered moving to another city?
