Is this true: Do we have to install Internet Explorer on our computers in order to access MSN? I thought these were independent things! What if I only have firefox?

I don't have IE, but I have msn.
Then again, I had IE when I first installed it, so I'm not of much help.

You dont need IE to run MSN. Try setting Firefox as your primary browser and you should have no trouble. But yeah I'm pretty sure MSN is an indepentant program so I dont see why you would need IE

I don't think you have to have IE for that.

In order to use the winks, you must download the Flash Player using IE. It was what I was doing wrong for months and months. I'm not sure about downloading on FF. I don't think you have to use IE. I downloaded mine using FF, just had to use IE to get the winks to work.

If you needed IE in order to make MSN to work the installer would prompt you to install it or there would be a program error that says you're missing it.  So in other words, you shouldn't need IE to run it.  The installer for MSN should have everything it needs to work.

No.

IE and MSN are totally different programs and have nothing to do with each other. As stated before, it is only vital for installing updates and that can even be done away with via Microsoft Update.

I imagine the official MSN client installs some components of IE for its advertising and today features, but you don't need IE itself.

That only applies to Windows XP and down. I believe that Vista is capable of, and I know Windows 7 is capable of doing Windows up dates with out IE installed or necessary.
