Your Mac isn't capable of handling high framerates, and so your VGA card (or onboard card) is overheating, trying to keep up with what your asking it to do. so in the end, all I can say is....yeah buy a pc...

Your graphics card (more likely than not, integrated) probably can't handle it. If you have one of the Mac Pros (probably not, pricey and uncool, looks similar to regular PC) you can upgrade the video card. But if you have a laptop/notebook or iMac/Mac Mini you are out of luck.
