I'll be going into high school in a couple years, and was wondering what kind of computer (Specifially programming) classes are offered.  I'm only 13 and I've taught myself a few programming languages and this is what I plan to do with my life.

The high school where I'm going only teaches Visual Basic and a few other web design classes. I assume that other, more technical schools, would teach stuff like C++, Java, and Python.

I think it depends on your high school....Im going to be a junior next year, and I've taken few computer classes like Web Pages Design, Drawing n Design I & 2. But our school offers a lot more like Visual basic, c++ and stuff like that...

The best thing to do is check with your school, they will be able to tell you what classes are offered, and when you can take them.  I was able to take QuickBasic when I was a freshman, Pascal when I was a sophomore, and C++ when I was also a sophomore.  If all else fails, take an Independent Study.  your school make call it something else but it is basically a self-taught, self-led class.

I took Honors Programming in C++ as well as AP Computer Science AB, in addition to an Independant Study that I did the school's website, etc..

The AP Computer Science AB (two semesters) class should help you, although it's pretty basic.

You're thirteen and have already taught yourself a few programming languages?  Wow man, you're set.  Just keep working on them and when you get to high school you'll know more than your teachers.

I knew a few by 13. I had my first programming book at 5.

if you already know a few languages, it might be worth your time attending some community college classes (summer). it probably will be more challenging than intro to programming in high school where they teach you for-next loops and how to write "hello world".

right now i am trying to write a Binary Search Tree class, and that is college level stuff i have been told' it is kinda challenging, but i know i can get it done.

programming is cool!!

My highschool only offered C++ and Visual Basic.  Bothj of with I took as a freshman.  I kept using c++, but have forgotten most of the vb that I learned.  Didnt see much use in it.
