Is 'discrimination' anything more than a choice? Is it possible to legislate matters of choice in a liberal state? Is 'discrimination' against one or another group a moral or a social evil?

Discuss, people. :)

people consider all forms of discrimination to be equal to racism or prejudice.

but it is actually our right of choice.

say for instance you owned a gas station, and some guy comes in with a winter coat and really baggy jeans, and goes straight to the back of the store really fast and then pulls a gun on you.

now say another guy of the exact same stature is about to enter your store a week later.
Would you allow him to enter???

No.

Well that is actually being discriminate.
Towards people that wear heavy clothing.

All action is choice, and therefore all legislation deals with choice.  Governments have always legislated based on whether or not the choices you make have an adverse effect on others or the state.  There is no reason that recognizing that discrimination is just a choice or preference would affect the states ability to regulate it.

Any action done is by choice, and therefore all legislations re dealt with by choices. Now most people would argue that discrimination is set against one individual and although that may be true in some cases discrimination is usually set toward a group of people. The best examples I can give are what we learned in economics class most employer used to discriminate against Hispanics because they felt they did not have to pay them the same amount of money as whites for the same work.

Now as opposed to discrimination there are different types of it there is gender discrimination, racial discrimination, and color discrimination to name a few.

Good point of that many people consider it to be a thing with race, but they fail to realise that it's more then that. Any thing that you don't like is discrimination

I could not like a certain kind of shoes and CHOOSE to not buy them.....

I really want to show you that both of these really co-inside together it's a choice and that it has nothing to do with race.
