You haven't been engaged for that long, which generally means that you should have some time to prepare for all of this and think it all out. Since you're not having a ceremony, then it would probably be a bit hard to hold the reception in say a church, but there are other options such as renting out a hotel, etc. I know the place where I work has an area to let people rent out. You just have to ask some companies, generally those who have catering services. You can also ask some of your friends and get their input on where it could go. Something fun? Why not do something out of the ordinary which people don't generally do often. Something strange and unusual, but defines both of you. Perhaps renting out a bowling alley (just an example :P.) Or something along those lines. :)
