If a person seems to be a bit "wannarexic" its not going to work to say to them that they shouldn't want it, it'll be even worse to tell them off for wanting it. That's going to make them want it more, specifically it is going to make them try and deny wanting it whilst trying harder to make it happen.
So after they have encountered the accusation a few times they will start saying "oh I am just fat trying to lose weight" but in their daily life try more intently to be anorexic.

And fail. Because it 'doesn't work like that'.

I'm not saying they'll be anorexic. I am saying they will try harder to do unhealthy things to "prove" to themselves that they are (whilst saying to themselves they are not because they don't want to open themselves up to the self accusation that they are faking).

I used to try to explain to people that acted in such a way why they weren't 'anorexic' and why you can't make yourself 'become' anorexic, and explain to them that what they had was an attention seeking disorder

but then i just stopped and started calling them fatties instead.
