The law is subject to critique and analysis, it is not concrete and absolute and rarely has the best intentions for us as individuals. 
I think thats the point that many people do miss. Its funny because often its the same people who will criticize the way the law is applied against Southerners in desegration or in Hate crimes for example.
They will say that the law is unfair and restrictive there. But when it comes to immigration law they act like it was handed down from Moses on the Mountain.
To me its not just immigration laws that need to be overhauled but it has to be connected with the department of Commerce (not just labor) so that we figure out a system for low skill temporary legal workers (theres someting for high skill temp legal workers not NOT low skills) and what rate they can and can't be paid etc...
