why woud so many ppl spend their time in something if it wasn't true?

The same reason so many people spend time writing laws today.
To help control society and keep it from erupting into chaos.

If people have something to fear, and something to look forward to, they will act a certain way. If they have none of those things, they are not going to feel as if they have much of a purpose. Give someone a purpose, they tend to relax a lot easier.

Iguana, why are you ignoring my posts?

the example you said got me thinking about the laws of god compared to the ones man has today...
man will punish a man for doing wrong, but never rewards him for doing good. that is a ke difference..

And yes if you got 4-5 people to believe what you do then yes you could write a book like that....I mean people get others to kill themselves because they are manipulative. I mean these "men" If more then one person wrote it wrote something that to this day is still being argued on. Nothing in there seems to be more then above what one could write. It's written in many different perspectives of what was happening and the Bible was written after the uproot of christianity meaning if it was true wouldn't it have been written way before then?

The law does not intentionally punish the innocent. Can you say the same for God?

OP, don't put religion (Christianity) in opposition to science. It's not an either/or proposition. Personally, I love that science is finding out how the wondrous works of God came about.

A key difference compared to what?
The laws man has today are more forgiving than the ones they had in the time of Jesus.
People are rewarded for doing good. I am anyway.

the first books were written by moses, after he died other prophets took the plates in which all that was written and kept adding to it as time progressed, the "author's" names are included in the bibe itself... so why woud you ask me that?..

true. But if you read what the ten commandments are, you'll see how many of man's laws are the same.
so the bible should at least be one of the greatest influences in this world

Just because it was written thousand of years ago does not mean it's true. Many things were written before christianity so does that make it true? And I agree with The Raven. It causes people to have a purpose...it causes those who have the potential to kill to not if they believe they are doomed for eternity and no don't point out that people still kill and mostly that's a choice they made and most don't believe in religion when they murder and then you've got the few who were doing it for God...

People will believe anything to just feel a little comfort to block out the real reality that they live a meaningless life and are just existing like any other creature exists.

That doesn't make it's stories fact.
Religious scholars have never and will never agree whether or not the bible is based on actual events, or if it is satirical and meant to be the same thing as Aesop's Fables. Or if it is a metaphor for the time those people lived in, with the Romans and invasion and dictatorships, religious persecution, etc etc.
