Let's teach that the earth is flat

We need to make sure kids are open to every single theory and not let them be slaves to science!

Let's teach them that

1. The earth is also flat. Man has believed it for thousands of years. Who are those scientists to impose their own theories on us?

2. The sun revolves around the earth. The Christian Church said so and even burned people for it. It is completely intolerant to only teach the scientific view.

3. The first man was made of clay. After all Carbon, Nitrogen and Sulfur are found in man as well as in the earth. So he is made of the earth and then shaped into his present form from the beginning.

4. Men really lived for 700 yers back the days of Methusalem. Look at the mummies. They survived a long time!

5. Volcanic eruptions under Mount Olympus come from the forge of Hephaistos

6. Rain comes from the mountain deities who get angry with man.

7. The original soup was actually an egg. How do you know its NOT possible? Scientists don't know.

8. Earth came from a carnal marriage between earth and sky.

9. Earth was created out of dry mud. We all know most of the earth was originally water anyway. it's a scientific fact.

10. Humans and animals lived peacefully in the old times. Another undeniable scientific fact!

Come on guys let's stop being anti-christian and anti-religion! Make room for ALL other theories and teach them also in science class!

You are obviously a moron, we teach not theories, but laws, proven laws. Other theories are based on proof.

you know, man never really did widely belive that the world was flat. it is an urban myth that spread from the poem of one man

and got blown out of all proportion.

but yes creationism is ridiculous and should not be taught

I think we should teach abiogenesis and panspermia to go along with creationism - er "intelligent design." Hell, let's throw in some magic unicorns.

We already teach abiogenesis, as that is the only thing that you can call when a human is suddenly not alive, then through some fanciful unicorn magic becomes 'human'.

Though it always does crack me up when idiots talk about the Earth being flat when even folks such as Aristotle talked about it being round.

yeah its "just a theory" though

come on, we have to be OPEN to all theories even they go against each other.

Some authors and artists less prominent in the Church's history directly opposed the round Earth. After his conversion to Christianity, Lactantius (245-325) became a trenchant critic of all pagan philosophy. In Book III of The Divine Institutes[35] he ridicules the notion that there could be inhabitants of the antipodes "whose footsteps are higher than their heads". After presenting some arguments which he claims advocates for a spherical heaven and earth had advanced to support their views, he writes:

Cosmas Indicopleustes' world picture - flat earth in a Tabernacle.But if you inquire from those who defend these marvellous fictions, why all things do not fall into that lower part of the heaven, they reply that such is the nature of things, that heavy bodies are borne to the middle, and that they are all joined together towards the middle, as we see spokes in a wheel; but that the bodies which are light, as mist, smoke, and fire, are borne away from the middle, so as to seek the heaven. I am at a loss what to say respecting those who, when they have once erred, consistently persevere in their folly, and defend one vain thing by another;

Severian, Bishop of Gabala (d. 408), wrote: "The earth is flat and the sun does not pass under it in the night, but travels through the northern parts as if hidden by a wall".[39] The Egyptian monk Cosmas Indicopleustes (547) in his Topographia Christiana, where the Covenant Ark was meant to represent the whole universe, argued on theological grounds that the Earth was flat, a parallelogram enclosed by four oceans.

besides who are you to oppose those great thinkers?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth_Society

Their view is as valid as those of scientists. its really close-minded to just dismiss what they say based on so-called "proofs".

And dont forget that we never landed on the moon.
