I wouldn't encourage it, but you know.. If they want to play with those kinds of toys so be it. I don't think its really out of the ordinary for a girl to play with toys typically associated with boys. Look at it this way, girls can pretty much wear any clothes guys wear. However, its not socially accepted for a guy to wear a dress. I figure, same applies to toys. As for boys playing with girl toys, I think thats a little odd, but I wouldn't disown him for it. At most I'd try and passively discourage.
I totally agree with you. The clothes thing is something I can associate with. My little brother likes dressing up in girl clothes at age 13, that bothers my father A LOT.
Hmmm, thats a little weird, but not something I'd like hate him for. There is this guy at my school who dresses up in girls clothes. Not like bras and dresses, just girly T-shirts and such. I have since found out he is gay, but hey, their choice. If it were my kid I'd love him/her nonetheless, but then maybe its different if you are actually a parent having to deal with these issues. It is weird in a sense, because it's not just casual girl clothes, it's like skirts and what ever. I just figured if my dad really wanted to talk to him about it, he could do it a lot more maturely instead of screaming at him.

My son plays with boy and girl things all the time. I don't mind either. I mean he's one he doesn't even know the difference.

I watched something on tv a while back about a boy who was 6 and played with girls toys and then started dressing like girls and turned his room pink and pretty, and they were associating how that happened as he is only 6 and didn't know anything about well, anything, and the mother said he first started playing with barbies when he was 4 and it just grew from there, and so they stated that there might be a link between the types of toys they grow up with and their personality/sexuality. There has been studies that have proven kids to be more aggressive/violent/excited/energetic because of the types of toys and television shows they grow up around, and because of their continuously growing and learning brain, they adapt to that and that's all they know, they don't know what's normal or not. I think by a certain age boys should tend to boys toys and girls to girls toys, but while they're young I can't see a problem, as long as they're entertained and quiet, but when they start developing their personality, you know when they start going to pre-school and walking talking making decisions any sign of a personality then I would start opting for them to be associating themselves with the gender-typed toys But if they didn't want to then I would be ok with that, I wouldn't mind if they turned out whatever sexuality but yeah just my opinion

I'd be totally okay with it. I wouldn't want my child to be forced by society to behave in a certain way. Children get forced into roles so young, example: because you're a girl you have to play with kitchen toys or dolls. I personally don't agree with it. If my future son wants to play with Barbie's, that's fine by me. It doesn't mean he'll grow up gay or he'll grow up and be weak. It just means he's young and he's exploring the world.
