First tasted it really young, but that doesn't count. First time drunk, 10 or 11.
Yeah.. That reminds me, Dad used to let me have a sip of his beer during baseball games when my two uncles were there. This was when I was younger then 4. Never thought much of it, but it seems weird to me now.. Not necessarily bad, but still.
That's what happened to me really. I was probably younger and I was allowed to sip my parents/uncles beers. But my family was always really open with alcohol, and I think that's the way it should be really. I was always offered wine at dinner for as long as I can remember, even though I don't like it. After high school I was offered beer instead, they finally took a hint. If a family is open about alcohol and lets their kids have a glass/ a beer at home I think they'll end up being open to talking about drinking with friends, or drinking in general. I find it really weird that I'm in my third year of college and some of my friends still have to hide the fact that they drink from their parents and I think that's ridiculous.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. In my family (aunts, uncles, cousins) I've observed that there are two types. The ones who are open with alcohol, and the ones who think its a creation of Satan. And ironically, the ones who are open with it tend to have less problems. For example one of my cousins comes from a family very open with beer. He is in Harvard. Then my other cousin from a family very anti-beer, he is in jail. Suffice it to say, I think the more open you are about drinking and the more casual you make it seem, the better life is.
