I don't really follow any religion. I only believe that there is a God or Gods and I personally believe that I will have a life after death. I don't know exactly what it will be like because I've never seen or heard of what it will look like, so I can only imagine. Call this faith because I truly believe nobody will know the truth 100% before they die; we can only seek to discover or just have faith in our own personal beliefs. I believe in a higher power because I refuse to believe everything just popped into existence like magic for no reason. Sure the Big Bang Theory has proof of the beginning of the universe so they say. But can they tell you what happened before the beginning? No they can't, because if the universe was infinite there would be no beginning, there would of just always been, so I doubt a natural occurrence created it all.
Some guy I knew in school sent me this through Facebook and I thought the video was pretty cool, even though it doesn't seem very likely this is a true story, because I would of stood up regardless of what anyone thought, and I'm sure others would of as well.

So, because we do not know what was "before" the Big Bang, you assume God? Why not assume a magical duck? Or a unicorn? Why is a god any more likely?
As for that magical chalk myth, it's just more laughable propaganda.

The idea of the universe always existing is just as far-fetched and unable to be proven as God.
Also, that video is complete bullshit LOL how can you honestly believe that.
If that was supposed to convert me, they did a really shitty half-assed job at doing so much like every other Christian who tries to "save" me.

You have two options:
Laugh and question my belief, OR
Accept that I am Human and have the power to believe in anything I wish.
And no I don't know if the higher power's name is "GOD" I just call him/her/it that for short, you're right there could be any name for it, and besides a name means nothing really it's just a word used for reference to someone or some thing. What I believe in is a higher power, or something that is GREATER than anything that ever existed. When you have faith in a certain belief you don't need any proof or facts. Didn't you know this?

I'm not challenging your right or your ability to believe in whatever you please, I'm just questioning the logic of your choice. Why post this if you have no wish to discuss?

Why? Do you think it is conscious? Does it care about us? Did it purposefully create the Universe?

I thought you wanted to keep people thinking, not keep people blindly believing in things for the Hell of it.

The idea of the universe always existing is just as far-fetched and unable to be proven as God.
Who said anything you believe must be proven?
Belief and Fact are too different things, you must understand this.
And who said the video was meant to try and convert people? Yourself maybe? The video is just telling a story and the message behind it.
It's sad people are starting to think like computers as in, they believe there must be proof for EVERYTHING (literally). I'm just curious... for all you Big Bang Theorists out there, why do you seek to know exactly how everything was created? Does it really matter? Is it going to make you a different person? Is it going to help you in any way? How would you feel if 100% proof was actually discovered? Would you just bash everyone who didn't believe it?
And again I would just like to say I don't believe no single person is right and everyone else is wrong. I respect everyone's beliefs. If you wish to belief there must be a scientifically answer to everything that's just fine, I don't have a problem with it. =]

The logic for what I believe in? There doesn't have to be logic when someone is believing the unknown. I personally don't need any proof for what I believe in. I'll believe it regardless if it's true or not. Why? Because it's my choice.

Again... I don't know and I honestly could care less, because there's no possible way to know unless I have a conscious after death.

You are correct, I'm sorry for saying that. Because if someone believed in the Big Bang Theory, they would of had to of known the facts and proof behind it first, before believing in it. Well no I take that back... someone could also wish to believe the theory without even knowing any knowledge about it. So yeah disregard what I said in that statement, it's irrelevant when trying to base it on everyone.

"Because it's my choice" is not a reason. Why is it your choice?

So you believe in "something outside of the Universe". To use "God" to denote such a thing is a gross misuse of the word.

This is drifting slightly from our topic, but I'd like to correct you on the nature of the Big Bang Theory.
In simple terms, the theory states that all the matter and energy in the Universe was concentrated at one point, and that everything subsequently expanded outwards, and continues to expand.
It does not deal with the "creation of the Universe". It simply explains the cosmological structure of the Universe.
By the way, could you use [ quote] stuff I said [/ quote] in future? It makes the post easier to read.
"Because it's my choice" is not a reason. Why is it your choice?
It is my choice to believe in a higher power because, I can't imagine the universe was created by/from nothing to put it simple (thought I mentioned this in the OP?).
The higher power I believe in, created the universe, and it's true identity is the unknown. [ Opinion ]
This is my reason as to "Why".
