This usually happens to Freshmen. As a Freshman, I maintained a 3.5 overall GPA. I had good standing. I recieved my scholarship/tuition from the state. As a Sophomore, I slipped to a 2.90 GPA, but I still recieved my tuition from the state. I need to keep a 2.50, or above, this semester, as a Junior, and, right now, I only have a 2.40. One negligant point away! I don't know why school's so difficult for me, this semester. It's not that the courses are harder. I'm enjoying them, quite so. In fact, I'm actually enjoying my Quantitative Chemical Analysis class. I've got a good grade, in there, despite not being a Chemistry Girl. But the clas that I'm worried most about is my Environmental Science course. That's my major. I did well in 101, but for some reason, 102 is keping me at a barely passing C. (I need a C in all science and math related courses to further my degree...). I don't know if it's the fact that we only meet once a week, and that once a week meeting is bull, or if it's something more. We had two hurricanes interrupt us, and now we're behind in every course. We're barely on chapter two in my Physics class. Barely on chapter 5 in Micro. When, with both classes, we should be well into chapters 7 and 8. I just don't know, and it's depressing me. Maybe I don't know how to study? I...don't know. Post edited at 7:35 am on Oct. 6, 2008 by TigressaLynnMae

Study buddy, tutoring, switch up your studying methods. Maybe you're just in a rut and you'll get back out soon.

See, I tell myself that. I tell myself, numerous times, "You're going to get an A, in this class. You're going to do the best that you can, and that best is an A." Nada.
Damn. That's crazy. It sounds as if you're doing your absolute best. Do you combine methods of learning, like not only reading and studying the chapters but also taking notes, making notecards, etc.? I have no doubt that you do...but it just seems strange that you give it your all but aren't getting straight As. I'm feeling discouraged right now too, but I know that by busting my ass for the rest of this semester I should be able to get mostly As. I think you're being a little too hard on yourself -- you're obviously very smart and I think if you just keep pushing yourself as hard as you possibly can then you'll get above a 2.5. It's not even to the middle of the semester yet. I know you're talking to your professors, but maybe you need to spend some extra time with your Environmental Science prof. It might even be a good idea to set up a meeting with him/her and be frank with them. Just say, I'm having a really tough time with this course but I NEED to do well in it. Do you have any ideas for me? I've been trying everything. Or something like that. I really wish I could help you more.
