Sluts are people who have sex because they feel pressured to. People who sleep around because they think it will make them more popular or more socially acceptable.

Nymphos are people who sleep around because they like to have sex. They aren't doing it to impress anyone or to gain status: they just like it.

I respect nymphomaniacs. I can't respect sluts. Just want to clear that up, because a lot of nymphos (female ones in particular) get bashed for being sluts and it's annoying.

But that's just my humble opinion.

I wouldn't go so far as to label what you are talking about a "nympho", but I agree, there is a difference between a slut and someone who simply just likes to have sex with a bunch of people.

1. Your definitions are backwards. Sort of.   A slut would be someone who just has sex a lot because they want to.  A nymphomaniac is someone with an obsessive compulsion to have sex.

2. Not everyone who fits the "slut" definition has a lot of sex with a lot of people because they want to be popular, because they want attention, daddy issues, or any of that shit.  Plenty of those people(myself included) do it because they just enjoy sex, and want to have as much of it as possible, as often as possible, with as many people as possible.

Sounds like a double standard to me.  What you are saying is that an nymphomaniac can't be a slut?

Nymphomania is an obsession not unlike any obsessive conduct such as; cleanliness, weight, diets, size, etc.  When anything dominates your thought process it can become and obsession.  Abnormally excessive and uncontrollable sexual desire in women is the dictionary description.

The difference may be that nymphomania may be corrected through some serious counseling but care free sex is a lifestyle.

Frankly I would run from both.
