I went on a bit of a health kick a few months ago. Jogging about 2 miles a day. It felt so good and I looked forward to it every day. It lasted about a month and then I went to a rave, danced for probably four hours broken up with cigarette breaks, but really stomping, jumping up and down. I could barely walk for a few days and after that my ankles annd knees hurt heaps when I tried to jog for the next few weeks so I sort of lost the habit.

I'm having trouble starting again. I had a lot of time on my hands then and was living in a city that was flat with sidewalks every where. Where I am now has heaps of hills and most streets haven't got sidewalks.

I need help. Jogging helped relieve my depression, helped me quit smoking, gave me a better self-image.

you could take up dancing or swimming or biking, jogging isnt the only form of aerobic exercise. i reccomend getting a gym membership.

Riding uphill is too hard. I don't like riding just jogging.

It'll be hard to run up hills at first but in a few weeks you'll be used to it don't break the habit.

If you're experiencing joint pain or bone pain immediately see  a doctor though.

Try taking some vitamins that help with supple joints.

They really do help relive the pressure over time.

Stretch well before you go out.

I would have thought the hills/lack of sidewalks would have made it more interesting. Jogging usually bores the hell out of me.

i had the same problem
i ran like 5-6kms per day but then i had exams and big assignments so i stopped.
i haven't really gotten back into it yet.
but i think u need to motivate urself more. start slowly and build up again. maybe do it every second day to start off with. they say that if u really want something, u'll do anything to get it.
plus if it helps your depression you should definity start again. maybe take a friend along, its more enjoyable.

You're already so cute. You shouldn't have a poor self image.

I'd recommend just forcing yourself to go on on a trial morning run. Keep it up for a week, and your muscles and joints will adjust to the hilly path, and the sidewalkless streets.

Don't stretch well before you go on a long run as you'll increase your chances of injuring yourself.

Instead, run at a slow pace for a while to warm up your muscles (like fifteen to twenty minutes) and then stretch, and then really go on your run.

Stretching 'cold' muscles followed by immediate prolonged high stress physical activity is a bad idea. Warming up your muscles is much more important than stretching. In recon training the best athletes out of all of us generally don't stretch at all during an event.

Anyway my advice is not medical so don't take it as such, it's just personal experience and observation.
