I figure before I go to bed I'll post this.
Don't get angry with me. I'm not biased. This is simply what I've observed.

Over the past few years I've hung out at the mall quite a bit. Living in a town overrun with cows, there isn't much to do.

I've conceived the following theory about emo kids and scene kids:

Scene kids are simply emo kids with more colour and less depressed.

When you walk by them in the mall... And you do, there is no escaping it...
Emo kids smell like hair dye. But you can also catch a faint scent of blood. Since they cut themselves often.
Also upon walking by them, you hear the soft sounds of a Hawthorne Heights song wafting through the stuffy food court air.

Scene kids, on the other hand, just kinda smell like bleach. They dye their hair so damn much, that's all you can smell. They also smell of cigarettes. This is a scent meant to attract their fellow scene kids.

Emo kids smoke too, but not nearly as much OR for the same reasons that scene kids do.

Emo kids wanna look shady.

Scene kids think they're hardcore.

Scene kids are generally mean people.

Emo kids are depressing, but just sit there.

Scene kids think that they have musical talent. Which they generally do not.
I mean, come on.
They listen to Circa Survive, for god's sake.

Emo kids think that they have artistic talent, and also that they can write wonderful poems.
Their art is always black blobs of nothing.
And, coincidentally, so are their poems.

That is all for now.

Don't yell at me.

This is a simple generalization that I have pulled together from all of the time spent at the mall.

Thanks for your time.

That wasn't very ignorant generalization at all.

Not really. I know a lot of scene kids AND emo kids, and they all fit it pretty well. Really.

You must be quite the traveller.

Never said a billion.
But I know many.
All I'm saying is that basically every single one I've come in contact with has fit this.

yay for generalization.

there are no completely stereotypical emo or scene kids at my school. a few of my friends and i are as close as we get. my hair's dyed black, but i don't like hawthorne heights. i only wear black about half the time. there's a sort of line between stereotypical emo, which, because it's such a stereotype, is posing, and just being weird/overemotional/melancholy.

wouldn't you rather be crazy than normal?

You've never heard some of them that say that they have to cut to be emo?
I've heard little 8th graders saying it. I feel so bad.

And yet you are still missing the other billion.

Try to not be so stereotypical.

Yeah, me and my friends are like this too. We get called emo constantly. But we're definitely not. At all.
