I got a chain text (annoying) but the statistics said that 90% of people marry their high school sweethearts. I didn't think that sounded right.

What are the odds that after high school/during high school relationships really last, and the people stay together? Beyond college?

That doesn't sound right. In fact, I'd guess a little over 10%.

It's not 90%, but there is some statistic I've seen before that when high school sweethearts get married their less likely to get divorced.

Idk, odds of being together while married aren't high so don't follow statistics if you want to be with someone.

Absolutely wrong. It is almost a sure thing that high school relationships won't last thru college and beyond.

Think about it. College, growing up, perhaps different schools far apart in different time zones with different types of people, different environments influencing in different ways, different areas of study meaning different classes and people, busy schedules with jobs, internships, different careers after meaning different people again and perhaps in different cities and moving around, etc etc.

Not saying it's impossible, though. Chances are severely against it, unfortunately.

It's definitely not 90%.
My mom is currently married to her highschool sweetheart... or one of them, anyway.

She married two of them.
Hahhahaa.

"Out of 100 married people asked:

22 said that they married their high school crush...

Out of those 22 people , 17 got divorced.

So 5 out of 100 people between the ages of 18 and 89 are

still married to their high school crush. "

I think that the correct statistic is that 90% of people marry their high school sweetheart, if they were together for all 4 years of high school and get married well into or after college.

I got engaged just out of high school.  I would say about 30% of people marry their high school sweetheart.  Out of my graduating class of 220.  I think there are about 5% of my graduating class is already married, and many many couples are still together.
