...That's the point.

The Major in college is the main subject you're taking to work towards your college degree and the future job you will hope to have.

The Minors are not as important, but still of relative importance if you want enough credit to graduate and a back-up plan in case your major does not work out.

It's basically what you plan to do as far as a career, so it determines which courses you take.

If you major in Dance, you're likely planning to be some sort of dance instructor, or to become a dancer.

You take a certain number of courses about that subject.  So at my school, you need 120 credits to grad, and you have certain core requirements for the arts and sciences college, and then you need like 31 credits for any major... or someting close to that...
