No seriously. Over 2000pts in prizes!!! JUDGES WIN TOO! Ends October 10th midnight cst SIMPLY post a link to a reply which you found helpful or that helped others (more info below). Thats it no explanations needed. No replies older then 1 week from today and try to notice replies from lots of different members. You may not post your own replies just to be extra clear. Ok I see a lot of support contest that are balls (at best). Recommending your own replies is pretentious and ridiculous becasue it rewards people who only made replies to win shit. I decided to fund my own contest instead of hoarding my points or donating to a contest I don't really like the entry requirements of. IN THIS CONTEST you the contest enter-er guy will when you notice a really helpful reply from ANY member post a link here. 10 entries per contest enter-er guy maximum will be enforced so I don't have to read a shit load. PLEASE POST A NEW REPLY TO THIS TOPIC FOR EVERY NEW ENTRY, unless you find two at once but don't go back and edit your post becasue once I clear a page I'm not going back unless you message me and tell me where to look. Also you can message me the entires if you prefer. I will try to update this topic twice per day, morning and late night, I will make a list of all entries in this post. A HELPFUL REPLY CAN BE: Any thing which serves to provide answers or insight to other members. It can be tech, teen or college help and from support or non support leader members. Verbosity does not always (or usually) == helpful. Consice and to the point is more likely to be read and use. Also added wit is always a bonus. I will select a top 10-15 entries which volunteer judges will vote on. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JUDGE: Please message me I need maybe 2-4 people, non mods preferably and who are relatively new members would be appreciated. EACH JUDGE WILL EARN 50 pts for their time and effort after the contest is over. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE: I don't know if this will be on the contest page, you are welcome to volunteer points and distribute them yourself or donate to the contest page, or transfer them to me, whichever is easiest/best for you. Just post what you would like to do and I will add your name and amount to the awards section. Thanks. THE AWARDS WILL BE: 1st the person who entered the reply: 6$ or 500pts your choice the person who made the reply: 500pts 2nd the person who entered the reply: 250pts the person who made the reply: 250pts 3rd the person who entered the reply: 100pt the person who made the reply: 100pts Funny/ most entertaining replies could win 15 pts. each no limit and those replies are still entered. (my choice) Plus whatever if any donations are made to this contest. JUDGES: (Needs a judge with no bar. Then all full thanks.) Young Deezy orange joy Mattie17 MEMBER ENTRIES: vicky91 (first entry so I gave her 5 bonus points also her first entry was before the amended rule about back dated entries so its accepted, all future entries must be no older then one week from today.) http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyanapy-support-a.html#2 DayXTripper http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyetiab-support-a.html#10 barnabas (yay carie is so cool!) http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyesyya-support-a.html#7 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyesebs-support-a.html#3 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyettsy-support-a.html#11 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyenbny-support-a.html#13 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyenbni-support-a.html#6 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyeooet-support-a.html#5 Kitty Kiska http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyepsep-support-a.html#2 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyobsbn-support-a.html#2 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyobsnt-support-a.html#2 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyobsnt-support-a.html#4 jamesish http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyoysep-support-a.html#6 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyytapi-support-a.html#3 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyoysiy-support-a.html#3 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyoyote-support-a.html#9 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyoeesy-support-a.html#2 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyoeyso-support-a.html#5 http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yybyonp-support-a.html#4 bouncy http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yyooipe-support-a.html#6 Post edited at 10:21 am on Oct. 19, 2008 by the real anti christ

So you make replies in hopes of someone discovering it and then glorifying it? Or you get a friend to publicise it for you?

Yes but I would really prefer if you entered replies not already being used by another contest.

You find helpful replies and post them and can win points + the person who unknowingly made the reply can win points.
Support contests usually encourage support and not just reward those that already do it and spend a lot of time and effort on it (eg, Define Your Line). I just don't see how it would encourage support at all, just get people to post good replies. In essence it rewards the reply owner and the person that discovered it, but people who make those replies are generally already dedicated enough, and this doesn't seem to drive support. That said I like the idea.
Couldnt it also be said that the other contest, which gets you to post a helpful reply of your own, is just as bad, because many of them merely post a helpful reply in order to get points. donations for it, then cease to make helpful replies as soon as the contest is over?

Its not to encourage support, its to recognizes and reward those who do it already.
Fair enough, those people do need to be recognised. Quote: from orange joy at 9:58 pm on Sep. 20, 2008

I suppose, but to be honest the people dedicated and driven enough to make decent replies which will go on to win the contest are usually supportive at heart anyway (going on to become a SL if they're not already and being supportive on LW). It's a fair point, because you will get people like that, but I highly doubt the winner(s) of those contests just stop supporting after the contest is over.
