if we stop having fags as moderators there wouldnt be much trouble theres always gonna be a little disagreement

No, because the moderators follow these guidelines. Again, they are strict for a reason, and they merely follow what they are given.

Personally, I would find that a moderator that let certain things go and others not depending on their own personal views instead of a strict guideline would be a worse moderator.

why should any moderator follow a guideline given by an idiot

And yet you are following under the rules of this so called 'idiot'.  So what does that make you?

Again, as other people had said, if you don't like it, then don't bother.  Everything has their own set of rules, but we live with it, or otherwise deal with the consequences.  You don't drive with a seatbelt on, fine.  If you bike without a helmet and you're under 18, it's illegal.  In your country, you could drink legally, but when you enter another you can't.  Not everything can be perfect in your eyes.

I would assume that as long as you are not banned, you are following some certain set of rules.

why should any moderator follow a guideline given by an idiot

David only laid down a few fundamentals, the team have edited and adapted since then.

Edited? Don't you mean "interpreted"? And individually, not as a team.

No, edited. The team wrote the guidelines. Before my time.
Writing the original guidelines and 'editing' them are two different things. You should probably ask some of the older Mods about the ability to rewrite or 'edit' the guidelines now. I've been told by an 'older' Mod that the "team" can't do that. Which is why they haven't been updated.

On a question I asked a Mod about equal enforcement of the guidelines, this is the answer I received:
"Those first two are actually not in effect in any real form, nor will they be. However, we don't have access to that to rewrite it. David has instituted new policies that contradict that, but it's up to him to modify that accordingly."

We can. I have the option to edit guidelines, and make new guidelines.

Then why haven't they been updated? Why don't they reflect the changes that have been made? I'm speaking here of those found on the page that everyone is directed to when they ask about the "rules".

Firstly, you may have noticed that they are extremely general, and not everything that is not permitted on livewire is listed there. Secondly, to change and reform the guidelines, which we have spoken about as a team, would be a lengthy process, in which it'd take the entire teams' consensus, and then as common courtesy, David would be expected to review and approve those changes.

Furthermore, we view those guidelines subjectively, and we use our heads for modding. It's very rare that everything is completely clear cut, and that's why the MER system works, because it gives other moderators a chance to approve or disapprove the original action. When a report is closed in favour of a member, it is highly unlikely that that change will be made in agreement with the original moderator, but one or more moderators will find against that original moderator, so the majority subjective view wins. We don't view things as black and white, just bold with gray bits that we need to identify and discuss as part of a team at times.

Tell me, how does 'the team' interpret this: "There are a few guidelines for participation in LiveWire. Please respect these guidelines, and each other." ? Suggested guidelines or absolute rules? Or... Interpreted according to the individual Mod's point of view?

And this: "Moderator Code of Conduct" ? Suggested or mandated conduct? Or... Interpreted according to the individual Mod's point of view?

Guidelines are a nice way of saying rules in this instance.

And as for that conduct, has to be subjective. Who can view it objectively.
