Everyone "bitches" about others, whether they like them or not. They bad mouth that person behind their back and to friends. Picking and degrading that person.

Why do you think humans do that?

Any theories or reasons you can think of?

It's human nature. Make another person seem inferior, and on the flip side you've already made yourself look better. I don't think people consciously think this, but subconsciously it probably has something to do with it.

People need to make themselves seem better. They subconsciously think that putting someone else down will make them look better.

Yeah, its really a survival sorta thing.

The fact of the matter is, no matter how much we believe we are friends with other people, we are still forms of life.

And life has its own predetermined agenda.

Maybe it helps to be able to vent about the little ways we get on each other's nerves so that we can get along better once we're together again.

Or maybe human nature is just really self-centered and nit-picky and unforgiving.  I've been thinking about that a lot lately.  It's worrisome to me.

People feel the need to dominate and feel superior. Remember we are part of nature so its all about survival to the fittest.

It's human nature - we want to feel that we're better than other people, and our way of trying to "prove" that is by bitching about people behind their backs. Pathetic, really.

It's a survival techinique I would assume. If we can beat each other we're the best. If we're the best we can survive. I think we should have been able to stomp out that mentality by now though. We've done enough research to know that animals who stick together or are in a pack do better in survival.
