The last apartment we lived in had bugs so bad by the end that we're throwing everything!!! out. I mean all of it. And I know we had alot of extra clutter from unneccisary items for my one year old. I have one on the way in March and was wondering what you find essential for a 14 month old and a newborn as opposed to cluttering up the house again.

Storage is lovely lol.

It's a little easier to say what's *not* really needed. The largest, change table. $200 easy, becomes a cluttered junk table, dangerous (roll offs) and not portable. Simpler, cheaper, safer option: towel/recieving blanket on the floor wherever you are. Easier to wash too.

A baby bath tub isn't needed. Newborns can be washed in the bathroom or kitchen sink and when they're larger you can get a simple small mesh rest and wash them in the larger tub. Or take them in to the bath/shower with you.

A lot of things like wash cloths, towels are bought cheaper non-baby specific. They may not have the cutesy baby patterns but an 'adult' towel is like $5 or $10, a baby one is like $15-$35.

You can get high chairs that clip on to the table or booster seats, instead of a large free-standing high chair.

And yeah, get lots of storage. It makes a huge difference. You can buy those cheap plastic drawer units and tupperware storage tubs at places like Walmart for like $15 and they're so nice.

OMG I need more with the one kid. Not to mention all of our clothes and junk. It's a madhouse. Storage was on our list big time. And I never had a changing table or a baby bathtub. I meant more like outfit wise or nose droppers/gas drops and other such medical stuff. We had a ton of it with our first son and we had a ton of it when he turned a year old and didn't need it anymore. The clothing thing is for all of us though. We have so much clutter due to clothes it's unreal. What's a suitable amount of shirts, pants, socks, shoes, dress outfits etc... to have at any given moment.

(I know I'm doing something wrong with about 30 pairs of shoes. lol)
