Then by the same token, creation needs to be taught in public schools.  The road runs both ways.

Religion and science are two seperate ideas.

The required national curriculum should be more explicit in the matter.

Creationism is not a scientific theory, and does not belong in a science classroom.

Creation myths can be discussed in Religious Education classes (and I do stress discussed rather than taught).

i went to a christian school and they taught about what evolution was but said that god created us and evolution is just a scientific theory. teaching all the theories should be required. u should look it up. maybe ur school is illegal. my christian school was illegal and still is. they don't teach phonics, reading, or health

Just a scientific theory? A theory, in science, has massive amounts of evidence to support it.

The word has very different meanings in scientific and casual contexts.

Creationism is already taught in religion lessons. It shouldn't be taught in a science class because it is NOT a scientific theory.

But religious schools shouldn't be able to get away with just not teaching evolution.

BUT, if evolution is going to be taught as science in the Christian schools, creation should be taught in the public schools.  Both are nothing more than theories.  You cannot say one is over the other without bringing a personal opinion into it.  Public schools don't have religion lessons.  Why should evolution be taught to everyone when creation is only taught to a select few.  Should the students not have the right to decide what to believe AFTER being given both sides of the argument?

On the same token, public schools shouldn't be able to get away with just not teaching creation.

You're in a school run by a church.
If you want to explore evolution and different scientific ideas you shouldn't be in a school run by a church.
Also as someone else said, if they taught evolution in a school run by a church they'd have to teach creation in public schools.

Firstly, schools over here do have Religious Education classes.

Secondly, please define "scientific theory". If you get it right you get 50 points.
