Do you have any sort of practice schedule you set out for your instrument? I've had a rough practice schedule, but I just wrote it all out so I could have it in front of my face. I have a notebook that I attempt to write what I've done each day in my practice, and what I want to work on for the next day's practice. It's still in progress because I feel like even the hours I've set aside aren't enough time in a day for practice, but I don't have all day to be practicing guitar.
1:30 Technique
30 mins position shifting
30 mins string crossing exercises
30 mins picking economy (sweep picking, alternate picking etc.)
30 mins hammer-ons/pull-offs
1:30 Scales
1 hour of 1 to 2 new scales in a key
30 minutes of scale improve (like saying "note, note, note, flat, note, flat" and seeing how it sounds, or just picking out sounds to see if they are good)
1:30 chords
1 hour 5 new chords as well as rhythym and strum patterns
30 minutes chord improv. Making new chords I think sound cool.
1 hour ear training (closing my eyes and playing a note on the keyboard, and trying to identify the note)
So far thats all I got for a specific practice schedule.
It still feels like not enough time though. If I could I'd practice 8 hours a day, but I don't have the time. I like to carry around my guitar and on my down time with my friends and do extra finger exercises or whatever I feel like working on.
