Edit: Anally, I would recommend something called an anal training kit. Basically they are 3-4 of them in a pack designed for getting bigger and bigger as required.

Have you also considered a vibrator? I got my ex a pretty half decent vibrator. It is waterproof as well, although that wasn't the reason for getting it. Vaginal stimulation is one thing, but clitoral is another.

I know 17 is a tad too young but I think she is going through a phase and would get over it in a couple years like i did ... so I would like her to enjoy and have great pleasure at it's full potential.

Personally, I just think buying her a dildo is a huge step and a rather awkward one at that. Yeah, you caught each other but that's not a good reason to just go out and buy her a dildo.
