Is there any teenagers out there with bipolar type 2? Because I was diagnosed with it back in January, but my psychiatrist and therapist aren't totally sure if that's right or not. I got put on depakote (500mg x2 a day) and now I don't really have mood swings, but when I do I'm not sure if you would call it bipolar or not. Usually I'm either really depressed or just flat, but before I got put on the depakote I was said to be rapid-cycling. I would call my therapist with a problem feeling extremely depressed and then she would call me a half hour later and I would be perfectly fine, happy even. When I'm in my good moods, I feel on top of the world, I run around with tons of energy, have racing thoughts, talk really fast, and I'm really productive and when I'm depressed I feel hopeless, sad, dark thoughts, don't have any interest in anything, etc....But the thing is is that I don't have these moods swings enough, but at the same time I wonder if that's because I'm on medication for it because when I wasn't my good moods could last for weeks and then during winter they lasted for only a few minutes or hours and then I would get really depressed again. I cut my depakote dose in half with my dad's permission, but now lately I've been having swings again. Yesterday I just wanted to die until out of nowhere during my last class of the day I got really happy and started skipping around the room humming to myself and got all of my work done in a matter of 20 minutes when it took the rest of the class all hour to do it. I'm going back on my normal dose of depakote and then I see my psychiatrist in a few weeks. But does this sound like bipolar to anyone who has it? Because I'm not entirely sure because I don't know too much about it.

type 2 means that the mania is less severe and that there is more depression.
